Shadow Keep was formed in early 1999 by guitarists Chris Allen and Nicki Robson. After audition, Rogue M. joined the duo adding his blistering vocal talents to the team. Having formed the core of the band, James Daley, Russell King and later on Dave Edwards were recruited to take care of bass guitar and drums duties respectively.

In late 1999, the early line-up entered the Thin Ice studios in Surrey with revered producer and Threshold guitarist Karl Groom to produce their debut '6-track mini-album'. The interest raised by their flagship song 'Dark Tower' on the internet based service mp3.com was to kickstart a fulgurant ascension for the quintet. Further indication of Shadow Keep's pedigree was to be their inclusion on Dwell Records USA's Queensryche tribute album entitled 'Rebellion', contributing a stunning version of 'Queen of the Reich'.

The year 2000 saw, amongst other things such as opening slots for the like of Ronnie James Dio and Rob Halford, Shadow Keep being signed to LMP (LIMB Music Products) in Germany. A further five songs were then added to the band's repertoire and their first full-length CD entitled 'Corruption Within' was released in September of that same year through the label.

In June 2001, a couple of days only after their participation to Bloodstock 01 (Derby, UK: Saxon, Glenn Hughes), the band began work on their second album with a new rhythm section consisting of Scott Higham on drums (formerly with Angel Witch) and Steve Scott on bass (ex-DragonHeart). In October 2001 Shadow Keep returned to the Thin Ice studios to record their second album 'A Chaos Theory', once again with Karl Groom providing his invaluable production skills.

The style of Shadow Keep's music has been widely described as 'Progressive' or 'Technical Power metal', taking influences from highly successful bands such as Vicious Rumours, Crimson Glory and early Fates Warning and Queensryche to name but a few.

Now, having completed the new album and with Steve Kightley (ex Rush tribute band bass / keyboards player) replacing Steve Scott on bass as a permanent member, the release date for ACT has been set for late 2002, and live dates in the UK and mainland Europe have been confirmed.
